OH EM GEE

Meet Ms. Sophia(2). She's real nice.

"Trend-setting Sofia 2 is full of ideas--the perfect friend for all of your embroidery and sewing projects. Compact in size, she always has something to share!"

That came from the brochure! They actually give all of their sewing machines girl names and refer to them as 'she'! haha!

Jason was so funny. I told him there was a USB jack* and he booted me out of the way! I kid.
He is really good at figuring things out and enjoys doing it. So we learned how to do the bobbin together! Only once did he say "STOP. PUSHING. THE. BUTTONS". Haha!

And so it begins...

This maybe the longest post EVER.

Yesterday our dear friend and first class carpenter John Golsby arrived to start working on our windows. We are replacing all of the windows (5) on the south side of our house.

Here are two before shots:

One window had a leak and the previous owners just shot some expanding foam in it for a quick fix. It didn't fix it at all. this is what it did:

Great work, foam.
Nice insulation, right? There is no insulation in our house--except what we put in the kitchen and now here.

This project ALMOST got out of hand real fast when we discovered that it might be easy to go ahead and take the bathtub out through the wall. because it was exposed like this:

But that was quickly nixed--must. not. stray. from. plan. (too far anyway.)

Can you handle this enormous job, john? His response:

:)

So john, being the beast that he is ripped out two windows in two days.

Gnarly weather is supposed to be rolling in within the next few days so we wrapped up as much as we could and will begin again sometime next week.

touching base.

Lots of people say this, but Thanksgiving/Christmas/NYE really is my favorite time of year. And I am totally bummed it is over. This year Jason and I started our own traditions--we had a pretty low key Christmas. We exchanged gifts and then had my dad over for breakfast.

NYE we traveled down the street to a neighbors house where i drank too much wine, and talked too much (and probably too loud).

The first 48 hours of 2011 have been big. We have bought a new mattress, joined a church and are preparing for new windows to be installed this week. I look forward to 2011...hoping for some big changes--starting with a blog facelift! woot! this place should be looking spiffy in a few months!

Unfortunately, I don't have (m)any pictures from christmas or NYE, but i'll leave you with this handsome guy.
